Periodontology

Periodontitis is an inflammation of the periodontium caused by bacteria. The disease is dangerous mainly because its chronic course means that it is often detected very late by those affected.

Development of periodontal disease

Certain bacteria, inadequate oral hygiene, genetic disposition and other factors such as diabetes mellitus have a significant influence on this disease. It begins with slight bleeding of the gums and extends over the years into the deeper structures of the periodontium (bone, etc.).

The result is initially exposed, sensitive and long tooth necks. If the disease is not noticed and stopped in time, all teeth will gradually fall out.

These are the treatment options we offer for periodontal disease at Zahnpark Mannheim

The best measure against periodontal disease is prevention. This includes good oral hygiene, regular check-ups, regular professional teeth cleaning and treatment of diseases in other areas (for example diabetes mellitus) by the general practitioner.

If the disease is advanced, then the inflammation can be stopped by other measures. In this case, gentle minimally invasive therapy procedures are preferable to invasive procedures. At Zahnpark , your dental practice in Mannheim, we will be happy to advise you on this.
